I mean, idk what else you would call it. "Vocalist" can mean someone who screams, raps, sings, etc haha. Have to be more specific somehow!

someone who screams = screamer
someone who raps = rapper
someone who sings = singer

pretty elementary

I'm not saying people shouldn't use the term, that's up to them, It just irks me since there's already a pretty well established word for it.

someone who sings = singer? would you hire a jazz vocalist for a punk band? would you hire a pop punk singer for an country band? Point being saying "singer" doesn't narrow it down anymore than "clean vocalist" we're looking for a specific style of singer, not just someone who can pick up a mic..

Didn't you also specify what genre you wanted to play? Wouldn't you have to do that regardless? Singer is a well accepted term that really needs no replacement, clean vocalist is a dumb term associated with an unoriginal scene.

As I said you can use whatever term you like, just pointing out there is a much better alternative and that I just don't like it.
