All sorts of numbers for all of us chart geeks today. Bruno Mars has climbed to the top of the charts this week, moving 95,000 copies of his latest album (bringing his total about 40k short of going platinum). Atoms for Peace come in at number two selling 50k copies of Amok. Mumford and Sons round out the top three with another 43,000 copies of Babel, which has now passed the 2 million mark. Overall album sales in this week totaled 5.79 million units, up 6% compared with the sum last week and down 9% compared with the comparable sales week of 2012 (6.33 million). Year to date album sales stand at 50.36 million, down 7% compared to the same total at this point last year. All the other notable numbers can be found below.
These numbers come from a combination of Hits, Billboard, and when we can find them SoundScan itself.
Did Deftones just have a sudden surge of sales for KNY? It was released in November and I don't remember seeing it in the past few weeks worth of round-ups. Either way, AWESOME.
Wasn't Fun's Why am I the one a new single? I wonder if it gained any traction...
Also Jason I'm just curious-where's the cut off in terms of what they count
-Indie labels that aren't part of (or owned partly by) bigger labels?
-Mp3 downloads (I know at one point i saw that the $2 amazon downloads wouldn't count when Lady Gaga did it)
I can't believe Passion Pit has only sold 164,000. Good thing they're making that Taco Bell money.
I believe the band playing in the past Taco Bell commercials has been Little Hurricane. They are a dirty blues duo from San Diego, CA. and pretty much rule.

They count indie labels if they're submitting to soundscan.
