I was wondering which state you guys believe had the best talent in terms of rock music. That goes for alternative, indie, etc. I wanna get into artist management and am pondering places to move. I'm really looking into California, Florida, and Tennessee. Any others?

If you're looking into music management, LA or NYC, and maybe Nashville, Portland or Austin. Nothing else is really acceptable.

I would've never thought about Portland or Austin. One reason I was looking into TN is because the cost of living isn't high.

Band wise; Chicago is a great place... the music scene there is awesome.

But a terrible place to live. I'd be terrified of going there.

clearly you've never been to Chicago.

Have a cousin who went to Northwestern. So I clearly know all I need to know.

I'm really considering going to Orlando. There I can go to Full Sail and open an artist management company during my time there. It's also pretty cheap.

Big mistake. Go read stuff about Full Sail; it's not all its cracked up to be. Plus Orlando is a shit town... Florida is shit in general.

I've spoken to several people who attended Full Sail and they loved it. It actually gets great reviews for it's entertainment business master's program.

Interesting - I've heard the exact opposite. I guess everyone's opinion is different

If you look at the reviews, basically every single bad review talks about the fact that credits don't transfer and that they have high tuition.

I get my bachelors from a different school in May, so the bad reviews don't even pertain to what I'd be going there for. I'm not going there for the degree; I'm going there for the knowledge; the degree is just a bonus. You don't need any type of degree to work in the music business.

I like warm weather, and NJ is expensive to live in. Been here for 21 yrs, time to move on.

Once OP gets to Florida he'll realize what a crap hole it is... I don't know why he's asking since he pretty much has his mind made up that its the best place in the world...

honestly; just stay in Jersey. You're probably way better off.

I haven't made up my mind. But FL and CA are the only 2 states where I'd be able to attend school for music business.

SO you're leaving Jersey because it's too expensive and considering moving to California where if anything its just as expensive if not more?

It just doesn't make any sense... but okay

I'm leaving NJ because it's expensive and I've been here all my life so I wanna get away. And if I went to CA, I wouldn't stay there, I'd just go to school there then leave after I graduated. Does that make sense to you?

dood, orlando is great. so much shit to do all the time, the weather is perfect, and the music scene is good all over the state. make the move

I see that you live in Winter Park, which is where Full Sail is located. I want to move now, but it's hard to find a job when you live in another state.

Being from TN I'm obliged to rep it. but honestly, it's a great state.

What I like about TN and FL are that there's no state income tax, and houses in TN are relatively cheap.
