Wale takes the number 1 spot on this week's charts selling 158,000 copies of his new album, The Gifted. J. Cole comes in at number two selling 84,000, and Kanye West adds another 65,000 to the total of Yeezus. More notable sales can be found below. Album sales in the past chart week totaled 5 million units, down 10% compared to last week, and down 13% compared to the comparable week's sales in 2012. Year-to-date sales are currently at 142 million, and that's down 6% compared to the total at this point last year (150.5 million).
As awesome as it was for August Burns Red to debut at #9 on the Billboard 200, I'm pretty disappointed that they only sold 26K, I was hoping for double that. Also, I'm extremely disappointed that one person bought the new Attila album...I mean, how gimmicky can you be? Inverted crosses will only bring you success for a short time.
I really thought Hawthorne Heights would debut in the top 20.
Zero landed at no. 50 on the Billboard 200, which is the same position Skeletons grabbed after its first week. I'm sure that record sold over 10k, though. The figures for this one are really sad. Four thousand units? I don't want to see these guys break up in the near future because it's financially unreasonable to stay a full-time band.
