I disagree. I think there have been plenty of good records this year. I think Have Mercy wrote the record that The Dangerous Summer has always wanted to write.
This actually makes me even more excited now.

Sad but true.

The same way people won't think that it sounds like Brand New.
Even though I'm not the only one who's said it, so you're wrong already.

this is a bit of a sad realization when it's all spelled out like this
All bands that walked a fine line when it came to be putting into certain genres. Really upsetting more people don't gravitate to that kind of music.

Even though I'm not the only one who's said it, so you're wrong already.

Just because more than one person said it doesn't mean other people won't think it's their weakest album or that there won't be valid reasons for thinking so.

I don't understand why this band gets so much guff for writing "similar" sounding songs. Every band has this problem. Very few completely change their sound.

Doesn't bother me since I like all their songs. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Just tweek (twerk) it.

I really loved RFTS, though War Paint didn't really click with me. Hoping I like this.

This. I feel like The Wonder Years can get away with it, but The Dangerous Summer really can't.

Different fanbases with different expectations/standards.

War Paint solidified TDS as one of my favorite bands. I was a little worried with what I was hearing from others who had heard Golden Record about how it was a little lackluster, even though I love Catholic Girls.
So this review is very comforting. I can't see this album not being my AOTY.

maybe if we could hear the album, or at least soonish, there would be better discussion. since we have probably 2-3 weeks til a leak or a stream (if we're lucky), it makes sense this could get bad. and I don't mean this with any ill will to Drew or AP. more curious about how Hopeless thinks that gap of time will prove helpful.

but I'm just some shmuck who has never run anything like a label. so what do i know?

do you want me to name an endless amount of bands that have changed their style during their career?

obviously the only logical realistic way to prove your point would be to list every band ever that's had, let's say, 3 albums or more. then out of that short list show that the majority of them have changed their sounds throughout those albums.

should only take you 5 minutes or so

That's cool. I'm sure you'll name a few, but I'm just saying the majority of this scene and what people come to this site for don't.

Yet, the songs TDS write are still good. I don't get why someone would be disappointed with more of the same when all they do is bitch for it when the band does change.

And most the time it's slightly at best.
