I think it's a bit of a stretch to call the singles "bad." They're still good and I don't get an Eastern vibe at all from Feeling in the Night.
I just really don't like them. I think "Sunshine" is easily the worst song on the album.
I get an Eastern vibe from it
How do you like this one in comparison with their others?

Haven't listened to the whole album yet.

Just the singles.

I'm sure I'll love it.

Oh. You will. By comparison, those are the worst songs.

FITN is easily the weakest thing they've ever done. Really bad chorus.

Whole albums great though even if it isn't quite up to the last two.
Do you understand what I mean by Eastern vibe? Haha. I just want to make sure I'm not crazy.

i don't know man, the way they work the 5/4 time signature throughout the song is just crazy awesome in my opinion. I think the song showcases how subtle and classy their skills and technique have become
I don't know what it is, I'm just not a huge fan of the song. It's probably the chorus, I don't think the horns sound very good. But like I said, the rest of the album is grade-A stuff.

Can someone give me a RIYL for this?
It's hard to say...it's jazz music. Very complex jazz music. You know Sleeping at Last? Imagine them with jazz influences, I guess.

I'm not getting the Mae comparisons. Love both bands, but I just don't see that.

I think he was referring to the pre-Kindo band, This Day & Age.

OH! Never listened to them. Only listened to Kindo. I'll have to check them out.

Yes, do! I actually might prefer them to Kindo.

Sort of, I hear it more on something like Dust though.

I definitely hear it there too.

I think Kindo is a much better band (especially now considering that Kindo has released more albums than TD&A), but I prefer TD&A stylistically

the first 7 tracks from The Bell and the Hammer are 7 of my favorite songs in all of musicdom

Well said.
