ABSOLUTExclusive: Vanna Movie Premiere - Chapter 1

Posted by - 08:16 AM on 08/09/13
Rather than put out a music video in support of The Few and the Far Between, Vanna have decided to release an entire film made up of music videos for each track. The coming-of-age saga, aptly titled The Few and the Far Between: The Movie, follows the themes explored on the album. Head to the replies to watch the first chapter, which is set to the first two tracks, "The Few and the Far Between" and "The Lost Art of Staying Alive." Check every Friday, as we will be premiering all ten parts to reveal the complete narrative.

When picking songs off a new album to highlight as singles or videos, for bands it's much like parents with multiple children trying to pick a favorite. Ideally, you've put so much love and work into each one and don't want to leave any behind or give less attention to each. We are so proud of all of our "children" on our latest album "The Few and the Far Between" that we wanted to figure out a way to highlight each song, just as important and meaningful as the last. Toying with the idea of shooting a video for every song, the idea to make a movie was born. This fictional narrative follows characters through a storyline where each scene touches on ideas and subjects expressed in each song in the same order of the album track listing. In sort of a Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" meets The Wizard of Oz, the only soundtrack for the movie is the music of the album while the action plays out accordingly (with subtitles for dialogue). Though the movie is influenced by such coming-of-age movies as Stand By Me, The Goonies, and Less Than Zero, the characters and problems are derived from our own lives, as well as the stories of our close friends and fans we've met in our travels. This is very much OUR project, shot and produced by us with only help from our friends, behind the scenes and in front of the camera (none are trained actors) which we have created for YOU.

Each Friday, we will release a new video for a song on the album until the story is finished. Our hope is that some of you out there can relate to something in these stories and know that if you are experiencing or have experienced similar problems in your life, you are not alone. We are just like you and experience this life the same way and are looking to connect with others out there. We are the few and the far between, but together we find acceptance.

Enjoy the movie!

I listened to this album once, liked it, and then for some reason completely forgot to revist it. Thanks for the reminder.

Haven't watched this yet, but just wanted to post and say that this is one of my favorite releases to come out this year, and absolutely Vanna's best work, without a doubt. Band gets my highest commendation.

Really fun album, consistently hits hard. Their slower tempo songs are some of my favorite too actually. "Please Stay" from this release and "Scarlet Shroud" from the last are fucking great.

Definitely my least favorite album from them after they blew me away with And They Came Baring Bones, but I'll give this a shot
