The Thin Red Line, easy. Saving Private Ryan is a good film too, but nowhere near the level of The Thin Red Line.

The Thin Red Line is one of the greatest films ever made, while Saving Private Ryan has some very thrilling sequences ruined by unfortunate present-day bookends and a tendency to attempt to convey uncomfortable patriotism.

Those bookends make me wince every single time.

I really need to see The Thin Red Line again. I'm not a fan of Malick but I do remember liking that film.

The shots of the flag are particularly humorous.

Love SPR but there's no way I'd ever vote against TTRL.

Deciding between these two seems fruitless. Two of the greats.

I know it's been said over and over again, but the entire Normandy scene is some of the most stunning filmmaking you will ever see. They should (and probably do) teach a class just on that sequence.

Thin Red Line is better but Saving Private Ryan is easily my favorite out of those two.

TTRL is a better film but I enjoy watching SPR more.
