|Hint: Have a band you'd like to see interviewed? Tell us.|
|The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:|
1. How did you get your band name?
It was actually named after an old WCW wrestler. Before Kevin Nash was Diesel or Kevin Nash... he was Vinny Vegas in WCW with bleached blonde hair.
2. How did this band get started?
A desperate search for fellow musicians on Plenty of Fish.
3. What bands are you influenced by?
Where do you start with a question like this? Fiona Apple, Radiohead, Imogen Heap, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Weezer, Mark Guliana, Photek, Liars, Otis Redding, Al Green, Nils Frahm, Nels Cline, City and Colour, Incubus, Queen, Thrice... could probably keep going for a very long time.
4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Queen... mostly because it would be incredible to watch Freddie sing every night.
5. Best food to eat on tour?
Depends where we are, but some top choices are: Yats in Indianapolis; Press 195 in Queens, NY; Mario's Pizza in Long Island; Sheetz and Wawa are always popular as well.
6. Why should people listen to your band?
Over the past 7 years, we've poured so much of ourselves into the music we've written. We've shared a lot of real experience, joys and let downs in both the compositions we've created and the lyrical content. We've tried to sculpt our music to be as much of a journey for the listener as we've found in our own lives.
7. If you could be any athlete, which athlete would you switch places with?
Kevin Nash (AKA the real Vinny Vegas).
8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
I would thank whoever rigged the ballot to get us nominated for a Grammy.
9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Having the word "music" attached to the word "industry."
10. Memorable tour experience?
There have been so many... But for me, it's the moments when you're on stage playing and you have a realization of what you're really doing.. and how incredibly fortunate you are to have the opportunity to play music to a room full of strangers and friends, and to share your stories with them, if only for a few minutes.
11. What does AP.net mean to you?
AP has always been a great place for us to find new music and catch up with some of our favorite bands. Always a welcomed post to see pop up in my news feed!
12. What is your favorite song to play?
At the moment, "The Taste of Your Own Tongue" or "Claws."
13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Don Henley, because my parents would always play it on long road trips.
15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
The ability to sing 2 notes at once.... because that way I could sing the En Vogue harmonies by myself on long drives...
16. Any pre-show superstitions or rituals?
I can only really answer these for myself, but drink water, WARM UP!, stretch, sing En Vogue...
17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
Well, they probably didn't know about our adoration for the band En Vogue until 2 questions ago...
18. What is your assessment of the current state of radio? Do you think it's a place where your band could flourish?
I have learned a lot recently from listening to a lot of radio... 1) Country still sucks, but it's not as bad as some club music 2) Bruno Mars is a talented guy 3) New Zealand and Australian pop stars (Lorde, Kimbra, etc.) are way cooler than American pop stars... As far as a place where our band could flourish... up until a few years ago, I would say no. But it seems like with internet and satellite radio, opportunities to be heard on there are opening up.
19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Listen to music, art, eat, travel.
20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
Our keyboard player E can tapdance like nobody's business.
