Hangout Fest Announces Full Lineup

Posted by: Chris Collum (01/15/14)
Guess what? OutKast are headlining yet another festival! Alabama's Hangout Music Festival just announced their full lineup for this year, and besides the aforementioned hip-hop duo, the other headliners are The Black Keys, The Killers, and Jack Johnson. You can find the full lineup in the replies. The festival is from May 16-18 this year.

Was just talking about how excited I am that Modest Mouse is on the lineup. I'd expect some kind of tour dates to be announced. Conor Oberst is also on the lineup. I live in Miami and would easily drive to Atlanta for either. Maybe Tennessee. If I'm lucky I won't have to even leave my state.

Tokyo Police Club is playing a fest in Atlanta(Shaky Knees Fest) the weekend before this but not this one(Maybe they tour around that time). But this lineup is really good. $229 plus fees though........ I want to go and have a good time at the beach, but jeeze.

EDIT: Didn't see The 1975 on there before while looking at the official poster. Nice!

These are the bands I wouldn't miss if I had a ticket:

Outkast
Pretty Lights
Modest Mouse
The Flaming Lips
Conor Oberst
Portugal. the Man
Fitz and the Tantrums
Los Lobos

I'd see these bands if the schedule allowed:

The Black Keys
The Killers
Jack Johnson
Queens of the Stone Age
The Avett Brothers
Tegan and Sara
Bastille

I'd probably give these bands a deeper listen and decide, but I wasn't immediately drawn to them when I first heard them:

Capital Cities
The 1975

Of festivals I've recently attended, the lineup is weaker than the most recent Riot Fest (3 days) but better than the latest Skate and Surf (2 days).

I went last year; tons of fun, especially because our condo was less than 100 feet from the entrance.

Seeing live music on the beach is so much better of a setting than most festivals. Stevie Wonder at last year's Hangout was (surprisingly) one of the most fun I've ever had at a festival.

Will definitely be going again, regardless of the lineup (which is an awesome lineup, for me).

Last year a few acts were announced later on in Feb., so I'm hoping that there's some spillover from Shaky Knees like Gaslight or Edward Sharpe. ..I can dream right?

i don't even know how my brain would process seeing modest mouse and conor oberst in the same day, let alone with a few of the other acts playing.

also, i thought the killers were on hiatus or something. was surprised to see them on the bill.

STS9 is interesting seeing as they just cancelled their current tour because the bass player left.
