Staff Recommendations: 2-02-2014

Posted by - 02:00 AM on 02/02/14
It's Sunday, and that means it's recommendation day. Here are the staff recommendations for the past week. Hit the replies to let us know what you've loved as well.
Jason TateAs always, check out my blog and the AP.net podcast.
Kyle HuntingtonBombay Bicycle Club's fantastic new album So Long, See You Tomorrow. It's a record that still manages to make the hairs stand up on my body at certain points even after the copious amounts of listens I've given it. Come and talk about it with us.
BlakeI've been listening to Jon Foreman's (of Switchfoot fame) solo work lately, specifically his seasonally-themed EPs from a few years back. It's some emotionally deep, sometimes heartbreaking acoustic music.
Zac DjamoosArrows' Modern Art & Politics is a great record in the vein of Amateurs & Professionals or The End of the Ring Wars. Also James Vincent McMorrow just put out one of the best albums of the year.
Ryan GardnerNine Inch Nails, The Chariot, James Vincent McMorrow, and Modern Baseball
Anthony SorendinoCheck out Brett Hite's killer performance of "Look Away."

Finally listening to Chris Wollard & the Ship Thieves' Canyons and enjoying it. It's as if the Gaslight Anthem REALLY embraced their inner Pearl Jam.

Saves The Day- Saves The Day
The Blue Pages - Rich With Love and Anthology
Alkaline Trio - My Shame Is True
Anberlin - Devotion
Bayside - Time Has Come (Seriously catchy.)
Jimmy Eat World - Damage (First time I've listened through the whole album, though I've owned it since it was released.)
Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt
Lord Huron - Lonesome Dreams

Echoing the recommendations for Bombay Bicycle Club's So Long, See You Tomorrow. Fantastic album.

Also:
Broken Bells - After the Disco
Beck - Morning Phase
Temples - Sun Structure
Cheatahs - Cheatahs
Colour Revolt - Plunder, Beg, and Curse (Pretty underrated/overlooked, I think.)
