The first tape I ever owned. Got it when I was probably 7 or 8. Still my favorite of theirs to this day.

Iconic.

The Offspring, and this album specifically, is why I listen to the music I do. Great memories tied to this album and this band.

Hellzz yeah. When this came out, I didn't listen to any music that I chose to listen to. It was just what my older siblings and parents listened to. I was 9 so I didn't really think about it, but I remember asking my sister to constantly play the "La La La" song. A few years later, Americana came out, and I loved The Kid's Aren't Alright, so I got it, and I became a fan. Funny thing is, I didn't actually realize it was the same band that sang the "La La La" song right away. The "La La La" song = Self Esteem for anyone that is confused.

I think a lot of people forget how massive this album was. It has sold over 10 million copies, making it the best-selling independent label album ever. Epitaph and punk rock in general would be a lot different now if it weren't for "Smash." I would put it right next to "Dookie" as far as influence goes.

This album was one of those "life changers" for me. These days, I'm not as into them, but this record was the reason I found myself at the local record store picking up that first Punk-O-Rama compilation that led me to Bad Religion, Pennywise, and NOFX who then led me to dozens of other bands from that era.

That being said: I'm curious to hear the "remastering," though I doubt it'll sound too different. And while the promise a full "Smash" tour sounds great on paper? Their live shows haven't been anything more than "meh" any time I've managed to catch them live. But curious to see who opens...

Smash is a better album than Dookie. 1994 was a great year for music.
