Yeah. The thing with the 57 is that on top of its versatility it really is great for electric guitar. Calling it a jack of all trades almost sells short how solidly it performs in that context. What kind of stuff are you recording, and what are you using for an interface?

I'm not too sure what specifically I'll be using it for, been thinking of making guitar based music for a long time now (I usually produce electronic stuff). I figure getting a mic for my amp will not only help me record my own stuff but also help me start building up a nice mic collection for when I start recording bands and artists (which is the goal). Right now I have a PreSonus 22VSL interface, it's getting the job for now but obviously I'll need a bigger one eventually

What about turntables? I got this for Christmas and have been using it with a mixer from the 80's

I don't turn the volume knob on the speakers, I set them and then change volume using the software. Sorry, wish I could be of more help.
Eh, I've been doing the same to work around it. I guess I should just get used to it.

I've got the same speakers. Turning the volume knob when it's below ~30% causes the volume to jump around and creates quite a bit of static, do yours do the same? I got used to it, but after it went away for a few days and came back I want to figure out a solution.

Check your connections, also if dust gets inside the volume control knob this can cause the problem.

For the buds or headphones?
The buds. I wasn't in the market for cans at that point.

As far as earbuds go, I have been so happy with those Panasonic ones that are linked in the article Jason posted in the first post. $8 and they are the first earbuds to last me over a year, and they sound great.

Not sure if I'll ever get a pair of earbuds again; I love my around the back of the head headphones too much. Soo convenient.

I know, but my head is so large that most headphones squeeze me and it's far too uncomfortable. Anyone have any recs for good over the ear phones for large heads?

Yeah, keep the volume at a fair (60%) level with earbuds ... I only use them outside / walking / in bed. Otherwise I use my OTEs.
