I'm super glad we included that William Fitzsimmons track though. That song kills me.

For the most part, we tried to veer toward artists that people on this site may not necessarily be listening to. I liked the TBS record too, but that band isn't unknown around these parts at all.

I hear ya! I enjoy that. I was just listening to Noah Gundersen's album last night because of the thread yesterday and I fell in love with it right away! Reminds of Ryan Adams.

Just noticing the reviews that have been done lately, and TBS is still excluded from that list, is what makes the least sense to me. I'm all for forming your own opinion, but I also respect and like to hear what the staff has to say about the albums as well. I like to see differing opinions and where people are coming from with those opinions.

Considering the lack of a review & no mention on this list, I'm going to assume the staff wasnt very fond of Happiness Is...

Which is whatever. To each their own. I thought it was a great record though!
Actually love the record.

Haven't listened to about half of these bands releases. I'll have to check this out after work tonight.

In addition to what Jake said, Casino and DJ Moondawg's "We Invented The Bop" are both cool. Casino is part of FBG and Moondawg's tape is an intriguing collection of "bop" tracks from Chicago which takes the autotuned nihilism of Chief Keef and the other stars from the city and turns it into a kind of joyful pop instead.

This is a really cool idea to me. You don't have to commit and slave through a whole record, and if there's a song that catches your attention, you can spend your time listing to that particular record the song is on.

first with an AP-compilled playlist. there's a purpose to it instead of just random songs thrown together.

Thanks for putting this together! Can't really argue with any of the choices, but how hard was it to choose a single song from Benji? That whole record is brilliant. I may also have gone with "52nd Street Surrender" over "Emerald", but that may be just because it's getting warm out.

ha, i know, only playing. I love this idea too especially because albums that may go past some people's radar get a good airing here.

So hard. We had three songs in the running.
