Rise Records has signed Defeat The Low, a DIY post-hardcore quintet from Portland that features Rise Records owner Craig Ericson on rhythm guitar. Their debut LP will be released later this year; you can check out a single called "Turn To Hate" in the replies along with more information from a press release.
Defeat The Low is passionate about creating expressive, self - sustaining music. Their self-produced single, "Turn To Hate" captures their distinctive sound which combines progressive, out-of-the-box melodies, catchy-yet-complex choruses and dynamic, angst - ridden vocals. Their music, as well as their philosophy, is very committed to DIY ethos; honest and sincere songs, infused with their own unique brand of rock, while drawing on their influences such as Glassjaw, Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas Is The Reason, and Deftones, just to name a few.
In fact, just about everything they do is DIY. The band self - recorded their forthcoming album at Rain City Studios in Portland, Oregon with lead guitarist Ryan Furlott at the helm. Rise Records is releasing the album, which features the label's owner Craig Ericson on rhythm guitar, and the band's photos and video were shot by Danny Harbold, who plays bass for the band. For fans of real, relevant music that pays homage to some of the most important emotional rock acts, it will be essential to pay attention to Defeat The Low.
Vocalist Chris Huaraque offers, "Defeat The Low is extremely excited to announce our signing with Rise Records! We couldn't be more stoked to release our debut album with such tremendous support behind us. This collection of our first songs written together as a group is emotionally charged and straight to the point. Defeat The Low aims to be as enthralling as it is familiar. "
Defeat The Low are making plans to tour in 2014 in support of the new album. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming release.
