AP.net Podcast: Strongest Catalogs and Blood Samples...

Posted by: Jason Tate (07/10/14)
I'm damn excited to post this week's episode of the AbsolutePunk Podcast, not only because now that I'm done editing I can go grab some food and listen to the new Gaslight Anthem album, but also because I'm really proud of this episode. This week's episode centers around "the best catalog bands" from our scene, but also includes: talking a little about that Four Year Strong EP, the whole Story So Far vs Warped Security fiasco, Amber Pacific's guest vocals mixup, conflict of interest in our jobs, and Eddie from Thrice joining Angels and Airwaves. The episode can be streamed and/or downloaded below.

Looking forward to listening soon. Did you guys discuss the question about advances of albums (I think in the TGA thread) in this one? I thought maybe that's what "conflicts of interest" referred to.

Just got to the bit where Drew is talking about mewithoutYou and I'd definitely agree with them if I liked It's All Crazy more.

Also really like this whole discussion on what certain bands could/should be doing at certain points in their careers. Interesting thought.

Was hoping this would be on the next podcast after Jason tweeted the question.

I completely agree with SpyKi, although I'd throw Brand New and Gaslight Anthem in there too. Also JEW

I think those two are both ones most people on the site would say, they just both have never really done anything for me unfortunately apart from TDAG which I love.

Same goes for JEW, ha.

currently midway through the best catalog discussion...didn't realize it had come up before. would anyone back me in saying Thrice? people say towards the end there were some misses but their discography as a whole is magnificent, in my personal opinion. I wasn't a big fan of Beggars or M/M at the time of release but over time I've come to love them

edit: sorry, just got to Jason's part. so my post is a cosign to that haha

All three of those. Bad Religion is my favorite band. Which 2 records are you thinking?

Glad you recommended that book Rock On last week. I read it a few years ago and loved it. Thought I was the only person that read it.
How prophetic has that future of Music book become (I read it a few years ago also but I remember them talking of streaming services stuff).

A good but weird book is Jon Jughead's Weasels in a Box.
