Inherit the Wind - Hello, Earth
Record Label: None
Release Date: March 25, 2008
Who?
A progressive/post-hardcore quintet from Massachusetts that has released three small EP’s and demos. Inherit the Wind have said they feel like this release displays who they are as musicians much better than their earlier ones. They have been together for two years.
How is it?
Their sound isn’t as original or as good as I could have been, but it’s decent. It sounds like they are trying too hard to be the next Saosin. The drums are driving throughout the EP, and the guitars are high-flying. The vocals are a bit to erratic for their own good, and the overuse of gang vocals doesn’t help their cause. The screams are placed randomly and aren’t well thought out. Overall, it feels like they try too hard for their own good. The guitars need to be toned down a bit and the vocals more centered. Once Inherit the Wind can do that, they will certainly be worth a second glance.
