Brokencyde - BC 13
Record Label: Suburban Noize Records
Release Date: October 21, 2008
It was a rainy night in July during the summer of 2008. This is a day I will never forget. Sitting in a dimly lit room, I innocently clicked a thread with a title along the lines of “worst band ever” on this very site. I of course didn’t know what I was about to experience. Clicking the play icon on the youtube video without even thinking about it, my jaw dropped. Not in happiness, not surprise, but pure horror. I followed the link to find out the name of this abomination, and that name read Brokencyde.
This band took a very respectable genre, hip-hop, threw in a lot of ‘scenecore,’ and the result is something that doesn’t even deserve to be called a steaming pile of shit. This horrendous band left my jaw on the floor, as I found out that people actually enjoyed them.
If this were simply a scenecore release, it would be one with absolutely terrible vocals. Even though this genre doesn’t have much respect to begin with and I would say that there haven’t been any good releases in the genre, this would certainly be the worst. The screams are forced, painful to listen to, and completely out of place.
The hip-hop/pop oriented vocals are slightly less terrible, but only slightly. While I enjoy auto-tune when used correctly (Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreaks), those who use it incorrectly give it a bad name. This band gives the ones who are bad at it a terrible name. This album sounds like it was produced by the worst hip-hop producer's little cousin.
Abomination, steaming pile of shit, horrendous, are all words that very well describe this album, except they aren’t quite harsh enough. After listening to this EP twice, I’m going to go take a shower and wash this off of me and then pray that bands and any band like this one just stop. So consider this my open letter to “crunkcore” bands. Stop it, just stop it, go style hair, breakdance, clean bathrooms, I don’t really care what you do, as long as you stop doing this. Trust me on this one, if you quit, you’re doing yourself and the world a favor.
I don't see how the lasting value could get even as high as 4.5. Perhaps I'm missing something...
The score was unreasonably low, and that's why it didn't get approved the first time. I couldn't bring myself to raise the other scores because they have actual weight in a description of how the album sounds. Lasting Value is a crap shoot anyway, so that's the one I raised.

EDIT: I also lowered it.
Someone just reviewed Soulja Boy and gave it a 5% so I don't see why you weren't allowed to submit a review lower than 14%
Agreed. This pretty much tells you that image and hype make a band these days. I hate everything about these idiots. I wish it was legal to haze them publicly and brutally.
my friends uncle signed them. i guess he is one of the top guys at the record company. i told my friend to ask him why they did that. i will get back to you asap

You should also find out why it's spelled Noize, that's ridiculous. I definitely want to hear the reasoning though. Also, have him show him the review, it'll be good ol' fun.
