Mozart Season - Apotheosis
Record Label: None
Release Date: January 13, 2009
Who?
Mozart Season, a five piece post-hardcore band hailing from Sacramento, California. They recently came back from what everybody thought was an "indefinite hiatus" to release Apotheosis.
How is it?
This EP is very promising. Mozart Season manages to blend hardcore and pop perfectly. The songs are well structured, but they're a bit boring at times. They are all similar to each other, usually alternating from clean vocals to screams. The clean vocals are a bit flat and out of tune sometimes, and too much of the screaming starts to get extremely boring. However, the band utilizes the clean vocals enough to keep the listener interested. The best track on the EP, "Look Mom, I'm On TV," features Jon Mess (ex-Dance Gavin Dance) as a guest vocalist. He screams two verses and really makes the song as good as it is. Overall, this EP is good, considering it is Mozart Season's first release in nearly three years. They seem to be ready to sign to a record label and create a quality full length.
