Unless you've been living under a rock - you've probably noticed the explosion of the "next big thing" in the social web: Twitter. However, instead of a website being built around profiles ... this one is built around the daily lives/micro-blogs of the users. It's a fascinating concept (regardless of your love or hate for the platform). One of the reasons for the site's popularity has been that some of the early adopters are celebrities and/or musicians. It gives fans a view into the brain of some of their favorite idols. Not only that - but it gives the celebrity/musician a way of directly communicating with fans while keeping their privacy. It allows for brilliant marketing, first hand interaction, and truly allows the personality of the user to show through. Anyway, because I enjoy bleeding edge technology (if you could call something with 5+ million users bleeding edge) ... we're going to be putting together a new feature on the (new) website in the next month or so. I'm calling the feature "Worth Following" - and it's going to be a page full of links and widgets to some of the best "tweeters" from our scene/world (not all of them - just those worthy). Some of the most active band members, music hounds, etc. In order for this to work right - I needa know who you know is out there (and, obviously, worth following). I've begun compiling a list (see below) and if you could add those we don't have (that you think we should) in the replies ... that would be a great help.
Not only that - but I am interested in your take on this new social fad. Does it die out? Does the unique blend of social networking and celebrities/personalities allow for a longer shelf life? Is the world becoming too social? Being the nerd that I am - this is the kind of thing that enthralls me. I love the ecosystem aspect of the internet ... and I love watching how things evolve/change with time. And the dorky designer in me loves looking at new ways to organize information/display content ... and how it changes how people react to (and with) it. That's why I just had to talk about it this week.

Just feeding the "All About Me" lifestyle of society...who cares what you, or anyone, does on an hourly basis? Why would you want to share that to the world in the first place?
Yeah definitely agree, its great way to have a glimpse into the lives of celebrities, especially with bands members. Not sure how long its gonna be able to stay add free though :(
