We've known the title for over a year now, but Against Me! made it official this morning, announcing that their new album will be called Transgender Dysphoria Blues and will be released January 21, 2014. Hit the replies to check out the totally bizarre album art and the track listing.
Yes. It’s done. It’s mastered. We’re finishing artwork. It’s hard to keep in perspective that, “Okay, the time will go quick [before we release it].” There’s a part of me that’s just like, “Put it on the Internet now. Let’s go!” Because the recording process took so long, I feel like we’re those runners at the end of a marathon collapsing as they come across the finish line. Their legs are giving out underneath them, they’re vomiting everywhere, and they’re just wrecks.
According to Laura Jane Grace's (Against Me!) Twitter account, she recently had five guitars stolen from her. The guitars are described as: Ric 4001 Bass, A Ric 360, A black on black tele, a blue Jazzmaster and a '76 blonde P-Bass. She has asked anyone with any information on the stolen guitars to contact her via her twitter account.
We recently interviewed ex-Against Me! bassist Andrew Seward about this newest musical project, which happens to be a band called Human Parts. The group is officially releasing it's self-titled debut next week on September 10th.
When I parted ways with Against Me! I kind of started working all day and when I’d come home my whole goal was to not just become a sloth and play video games or stuff like that. I wanted to be a good father and partner and just be creative whenever I could. And that’s what I did, I just started focusing and using my spare time to record.
I’ve left AM!. No drama here. I reached a point where I need to focus on other things. Respect to Laura and James. The last 10 years ruled. -Andrew
It’s been an honor and privilege to stand on stage with Andrew for the past 10 years. I am sad to see him go, but I wish nothing but the best for him moving forward. – James
It’s heartbreaking to know that Andrew won’t be standing next to me out on stage the next time I stand upon one. I realize that at this point there’s a possibility that it may look pretty ridiculous to carry on playing under the name Against Me! If I didn’t feel like I had something that I really...
Watch a brand new Joan Jett and the Blackhearts song titled "Soulmates to Strangers" in the replies. It was written for Joan Jett by Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), and she joins the band onstage in their first time performing it live.
In an interview with Propagandhi's Chris Hannah, Laura Jane Grace from Against Me! confirmed that Transgender Dysphoria Blues is almost finished and should be released in April or May. Listen to the entire podcast here.
Blake Schwarzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil) has a new project entitled Forgetters, which also features Kevin Mahon (Against Me!) on drums. They will release their debut self-titled record on November 13th.
In case you didn't catch it from the news we posted about Tom Gabel's live debut as Laura Jane Grace at Against Me!'s show in San Diego, the band's new record will be called Transgender Dysphoria Blues. The group played six new songs at the show. In the Rolling Stone article about Laura's transformation, there was a mention that writing for this new record begun quite a while ago.
Today the new Rolling Stone hits shelves -- it's the one with the full article on Tom Gabel's recent news. Seeing as it's the first issue of the magazine I've actively wanted to seek out in years ... I figured I wouldn't be the only one. So, with that I'm opening up a thread here on the homepage for people that have picked up the magazine to talk about it, share thoughts, insights, and whatnot. As soon as I can get my ass to the store, I'll be joining in with my thoughts.
