Today is Anthony Green (Circa Survive) and Zachary Carothers' (Portugal. The Man) birthday. Be sure to leave some love in the replies or shoot them a tweet.
Somehow, Anthony Green of Circa Survive cracked one of his ribs which forced the band to cancel their show in Detroit last night. After a few days of rest, the band plans on continuing forward and finishing the tour as planned. All of us here at AP.net send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Anthony.
Last week I met up with Colin Frangicetto to talk about music and art. I began writing what was supposed to be last week's column, but other factors in my life got in the way, and I returned to it this week. At the same time, discussion brewed again about Buzzmedia "buying up all the punk stock" or whatever, and it just sort of hit me about how much we complain about the price of art and our trades versus the creation of it. You can read my very long rant on the subject here. This week I have one question for you: How much of your time, money and effort have you put into something you loved for more than just the return? Take this weekend to make like The Hold Steady, and try to stay...

If it isn't making dollars, then it isn't making sense. Tell that to Circa Survive who, this week, announced they would be self-releasing their upcoming album, Violent Waves. The band posted two limited pre-orders that gave some of us a double take on the price. Well, both those bundles are now sold out. Going along with my Thursday Discussion yesterday, I've given thought to how we value music and what we're willing to pay on a spectrum of what we have to have to, "I could jam that for $1 and not feel guilty about stealing it." My thoughts are here.
