Fireworks is going on hiatus after they finish their shows.
There's no way to express how much your love and support has meant to Fireworks - and furthermore, to us as individuals over the last 8 years or so. After these upcoming gigs are ripped, we will be taking a break for awhile to give the other sides of life a try. We really don't know how long "awhile" is, but you'll be the first to know when we figure that out. Hope to see everyone this Spring and Summer. Fireworks Forever.

Fireworks will be touring with Turnover, Weatherbox, Sorority Noise, and Dryjacket. Dates in the replies.

Fireworks asked Bill Clinton to play saxophone on their last album. He declined because his schedule is "quite full."
The email, from Jenna Daley, read: "Thank you for inviting President Clinton to play his saxophone as part of your band's album in September of 2013. As I'm sure you can imagine, his calender is shaping up to be quite full and due to prior constraints on his schedule, he is unable to join. I want to thank you again for your outreach, and wish you the best with your ongoing album recording."

Today we're introducing you to Tea & Water, the solo project from Fireworks frontman Dave Mackinder. The act has a brand-spanking-new digital EP that you can "pre-order" on Bandcamp -- it's a digital download that comes with a cool hand-made download card. In the replies, we're streaming the first song from the release, titled "Change Your Mind," and you can also check out a very short Q&A with Dave that provides a bit more background behind the new project. The EP was recorded with Citizen's Mat Kerekes and you should check it out if you enjoy the poppier parts of Fireworks.

We were out at The Wonder Years' sold-out stop of The Greatest Generation Tour with Fireworks, Real Friends, Citizen and Modern Baseball in New York City on April 17, and our friend Sheri Berman came with us to shoot some photos. Check out the shots on our Facebook page. Now that the North American leg of this tour is over, we want to hear from you guys about your experiences at the stop you went to and what you thought of the tour package as a whole. Remember, if you're in Europe or the UK, The Greatest Generation Tour hits you in May.

Read my review and check out my photos of the sold out Worcester, MA stop of The Wonder Years's The Greatest Generation World Tour with Fireworks, Citizen, Real Friends, and Modern Baseball.
The Greatest Generation World Tour is yet another testament to why The Wonder Years are the gold standard for the genre. Between their honest songs, their tight stage presence, their rabid fanbase and even the bands they surround themselves with, The Wonder Years have set the bar impossibly high for any other band hoping to take the pop-punk throne.

If you remember when the group first posted a teaser video with a short audio sample ... this is that. Also, Oh, Common Life debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, No. 5 on the vinyl chart and No. 148 on the Billboard 200.

Watch Fireworks' new video for "Glowing Crosses" in the replies. Oh, Common Life is out now.
My parents were only teenagers at the time of the Detroit riots in 1967, yet they can still perfectly describe the desolation and eerie silence those riots brought. The only light came from the glowing cross hanging on the side of the hospital, lighting up the front lawns of all the houses in the neighborhood. Although it didn't really mean anything, knowing that people thought it did was kind of powerful on it's own.

Defeater frontman Derek Archambault has released a statement about why the band had to drop off The Wonder Years' spring headlining tour. The band is being replaced by Fireworks.
I have been dealing with my hip condition since an accident months ago, but this has just recently in the last few months become much more of a serious problem. The doctors and surgeons I have seen strongly recommended that I get this taken care of as soon as possible before my hip breaks in it's brittle state and causes further damage.

Fireworks will return with its highly anticipated new full-length, Oh, Common Life, on March 25 via Triple Crown Records. It was recorded last fall with Brian McTernan. Additionally, the band will be replacing Defeater as direct support on the entirety of The Wonder Years' recently announced spring headlining tour.
“This is a record of self-realization. It’s all pretty self-absorbed and personal, and it all came from within. When we show it to people close to us, it can get uncomfortable because of how personal and relatable it is.” says guitarist and back up vocalist, Chris Mojan. “We were able to break everything down when we were writing,” Mojan continues. “I think that shows on the...

Fireworks have released a new charity T-shirt to benefit Variety Detroit.
We chose Variety-Detroit: The Children's Charity, simply helping kids no matter the need. This hits specifically close to home because as an infant and young child I was in the Variety Program. They provided funding for a prosthesis when I was about 18 months old. I was reconnected with Variety again because their organization works closely with the prothesisist who developed the guitar pick I'm currently playing with now. I figured what better way to give back to them than donate through our shirt in the Live Shot Charity Tee's series. They gave me a chance and every Kid deserves a chance.

Both Fireworks and Transit members have tweeted pretty damning statements about the Empire venue in Springfield, VA. From what we've been able to piece together, it looks like the promoter used hateful speech -- and then shit hit the fan. We've reached out to try and find out exactly what happened.

Update: A statement about everything that happened, from Floyd James, can be found here.

Read my review of the Pawtucket, RI stop of The Wonder Years' current tour with Fireworks, Hostage Calm and Misser on March 9th here.
The Wonder Years put forth all of their energy at every show, but there's something special about seeing them in a small club. Both the band and the fans relished the intimate setting. Adding a strong line-up of genuine musicians - really, any band on the show could have headlined to a solid turnout - was merely the icing on the cake. Don't miss this tour if it's coming anywhere near you, because The Wonder Years probably won't be playing venues this small for a while.
