Five Iron Frenzy raised more than $200,000 through their Kickstarter, over six times as much as their goal of $30,000.

We grab inspiration from so many artists, from Jimmy Eat World to Weezer and NOFX. We have a lot of NOFX rip off songs. I think because we have roots in secular music that we feel inspired by it. In terms of lyrics, we've always felt we have a "voice", as in a responsibility to tell the truth and tell a story, especially for those who can't represent themselves. And I think there's always an aspect of social justice in our music, whether it's a "blue mix" that's unfair to an opening band, something about Native Americans, or the way we look at a child whose parents are divorced. In an interview with Reese Roper (Brave Saint Saturn), he states that he hopes to have a Five Iron Frenzy DVD in stores by Christmas.

From the Interview

Right now, we are still hoping to have it out by Christmas as a joint release from Asian Man and Department of Biophysics. It is in a very rough state though. We want to have a 2-hour feature about the history of Five Iron, with a ton of bonus footage like: short films, videos (new ones even!), etc. It has just taken so long to compile all of the footage, and import it all onto a hard drive for editing. Keep your fingers crossed.

Leanor Ortega Till (Jeff the girl) of Five Iron Frenzy and Nathan & Stephen gave birth to a daughter this morning, Inez. Leanor is doing just fine. Nathan & Stephen (Leanor's project with husband and former Roper member, Stephen Till) is releasing a new EP in early march and will be at SXSW, babies in tow.
