A documentary about Green Day will premiere in theaters October 15th. It is called Heart Like A Hand Grenade.
“I told [Billie Joe Armstrong] he should document the recording of the album and he said they had tried and it never worked,” says Director John Roecker. “I suggested that he set up tripods around the studio and just have cameras run so it would not be too invasive of the process of the recording (I was hoping he would get my hint!). Then I got a phone call on a Friday night and he said he and the band will be in Los Angeles on Monday and why don’t I be the tripod. Thus began my nine months with Green Day.”

Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) and his wife Adrienne will be featured on Junk Gypsies.
Green Day front man and rock'n'roll hall of famer, Billie Joe Armstrong, and his wife, Adrienne, own an old airstream trailer and as a special surprise to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, Adrienne has asked the Junk Gypsies to renovate the trailer and make it into a 'surf shack on wheels' that Billie can take out surfing with his buddies. Amie and Jolie hit the road for inspiration and to find a surfboard for the airstream. They build a table out of a surfboard and turn the airstream into a 'Zen, rock'n'roll surf shack' for Billie Joe.

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about their new record and the Hall of Fame.
Before we found any of this out, I had already written a few songs and everybody was really excited by them. And then we heard about the Hall of Fame, and we were just blown away. Yeah, I mean, we're going to take our time. We're not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we're honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album.

Green Day will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
Only a handful of bands get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the first year they're eligible these days. When Billie Joe Armstrong learned that Green Day were one of them, he could barely process the news. "I had to go for a walk," he says. "I wound up at this cafe and I sat down and my son met up with me. I told him and he was like, 'Oh my God. No way.' It just took some time to sink in. We're in incredible company and I'm still trying to make sense of this. It's just incredible."

Green Day's Mike Dirnt will be producing an indie film called "Crickets."
Dirnt, along with Green Day's longtime manager Pat Magnarella, will produce “Crickets” from a script by Alfredo Botello. The story, by Botello and Jack Umbrella, centers on the relationship of two estranged brothers. One, an aspiring stand-up comic, is dying of a terminal illness. He asks his brother, a depressed office drone, for one last request: to go on stage and perform his material for him to see if he ever really had talent. What he doesn't reveal, though, is that he has an even bigger surprise in store.

"For my next album I got myself Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Brandon Flowers of the Killers and even Chris Martin into the studio - this is so great for me, I have always admired them all."
