Hostage Calm has broken up. It’s too soon, it’s too young, and it hurts too much. All planned shows are canceled. We are still figuring out if and when there will be any final shows. I want to personally thank every one of you who supported us over the years. You shared so much more with us than you’ll ever know. From our music to our politics, you helped make a bunch of Wallingford kids’ foolish dreams a reality. It was the great privilege of our young lives. To all of you who’ve connected with us, who’ve grown with us, who’ve loved, changed, cried, lived with us - and to all of you who will yet - Just know that we loved what we did, and we could never have...
This week Jason and I kind of nerd out with Tom Chiari, guitarist of Hostage Calm and Run For Cover Records label manager. We discussed the killer 2013 RFC is having thus far and a bunch of cool insider-type topics that most people may not know about smaller labels and how they operate. We also talk a little Hostage Calm as well.

A Hostage Calm fan named Alex was assaulted at a bar in North Carolina yesterday by another patron. The conflict centered around Alex's "I Support Same-Sex Marriage" T-shirt that has been the subject of other drama as well. We have a statement from Alex, which you can read an excerpt from below and fully in the replies, and we've also reached out to the band for a statement. We'll update this post when we hear something back.
I spoke up, because who you love has nothing to do with your religion or your political views. The guy was not happy. I went to smoke another cigarette and told the guy to leave...
Less Than Jake have officially returned to Fat Wreck Chords and are now signed with the label. The band's new full-length record will be released sometime in the Fall. Some new US tour dates with Pentimento and Hostage Calm can also be found in the replies.
The Wonder Years put forth all of their energy at every show, but there's something special about seeing them in a small club. Both the band and the fans relished the intimate setting. Adding a strong line-up of genuine musicians - really, any band on the show could have headlined to a solid turnout - was merely the icing on the cake. Don't miss this tour if it's coming anywhere near you, because The Wonder Years probably won't be playing venues this small for a while.
Dates for Anti-Flag's east coast 20th anniversary shows can be found in the replies. Support on the various dates includes The Swellers, Make Do and Mend, Hostage Calm, Lemuria, Code Orange Kids, This Is Hell and more.

I'm extremely proud and excited that we're exclusively premiering one of my favorite albums of 2012 - Hostage Calm's Please Remain Calm. It's one of the year's most important records, a genuine take on not giving up when everyone's given up on you. You can stream it over at the bands' AP.net profile and while you're doing that you can also read my review as well as Adam's interview with the band. The album hits stores on October 9th, so don't forget to pre-order it ASAP.
