PropertyOfZack has confirmed that Austin Carlile from Of Mice & Men was arrested for an altercation with a man on Saturday and that's why the band had to miss two days of its current tour with A Day To Remember. Carlile is expected to be released from jail today. The BG News reported the following.
Austin Carlile, 25, of Huntington Beach, Calif., was arrested for felonious assault outside of 149 North at 2:50 a.m. along with the band’s drum technician, Lionel Robinson II, 27, of Escondid, Calif., according to police reports.

There's a sour stench on cover songs these days. Ever since the Punk Goes series threw atrocious screams on pop gold, the appeal of reinterpretations has dwindled significantly. Fortunately for us, Mandolyn Mae is flipping the script, offering sweet renditions of scene hits from Underoath, Further Seems Forever, and more. Today we're premiering her version of "Second & Sebring" from Of Mice & Men's debut album - check it out in the replies, along with the full tracklist for her Cover to Cover EP.

PureVolume recently sat down with Austin Carlile (Of Mice & Men) and talked about his work ethic, the band's upcoming album, and more.
From The InterviewTwo or three years ago, I may have gotten sucked into that stuff and voiced my opinion on this or that. But at this point in my life, I don't need somebody else's opinion. It absolutely makes me sick to see some of the hating on each other online. I think it's bullshit, and I think it's time for people in our industry to grow up. Instead of wasting time trying to be hurtful to someone else, why not try to help yourself and do something bigger?

Check out our interview with Of Mice & Men, here. The band will be writing and recording later on this year.
From The InterviewNo, I won't ever waste a single nerve ending on Shayley, will never write a single song about him, will never care -- he is irrelevant to this band, and irrelevant to our lives. We wrote "The Depths" because I was pissed off about life in general, and about people being hateful.

Of Mice & Men frontman Austin Carlile stated that the band's new material will touch on nu metal.
ExcerptI think our newer stuff is a lot more structured. When I think of nu-metal, I think of Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and even Chevelle—those types of bands. The songs are a lot more structured and they’re a lot deeper and the tunings are even lower. I kind of wanted to touch on that and have our songs to have more of a rock and roll feel. Just in your face, angsty, here-it-is rock and roll. And that’s what I think of when I think of nu-metal: structured, heavy music that has a point. It’s angry just like all the other music, but the bigger parts are bigger and the...
