It’s kind of like when you get to this point in your career, I’d rather people love it or hate it than not care. I actually read a ton of posts on Absolute Punk yesterday, just seeing what people are saying about it and stuff. Some people are violently opposed to the direction we are going, which is something we knew would happen. Honestly, I’d like to see what they think about it later because a lot of them were saying that about our last record. I remember when that came out a lot of people hated it, like “Why is it so negative?” So I don’t know. I think it’ll be interesting to see what happens with it. Maybe it’s not some ...
Today we're premiering the title track from Relient K's upcoming album, Collapsible Lung. It's my favorite track off the album, as it carries that emotional resonance we've come to expect in Relient K's music. You can stream it in the replies or over at the band's AP.net profile. The new album is in stores next Tuesday, July 2nd, and you can pre-order it here.
Just to clarify a few things about Relient K. (From our previous post)
1. We will be doing the upcoming tour as a full band, and we are very excited about it! Dan Gartley and Tom Breyfogle will be performing on bass and drums respectively. They are both amazing friends (from Canton, OH), and incredibly talented musicians.
2. We are all still friends, and only want the best for each other.
3. Our new album "Collapsible Lung" is finished and will be coming out soon. It was made by all five of us. We apologize for the delays thus far. We are so excited about it and can't wait for you to hear it!
Relient K has released a new song called "That's My Jam" that they did while recording their new album. It's a playful song that references a bunch of popular music from the 1990s. Check it out in the replies.
Matt Thiessen (Relient K) played two new songs at the Dear Jack's Benefit Concert. The first one is a new Relient K song, called "Sweeter." The second is a a song he wrote with his girlfriend, Jillia Jackson, called "Pot of Gold." Both are in the replies.
