There was a period where we said, "Why say no? Let's keep the door open." But it's a lot of work to be in Texas is the Reason. [Laughs] It's so much fucking work and I can't have that window open while I'm focusing on other things, so I want that to be clear to the people who care about these shows. I don't want people to go, "Well, I thought they'd come back." Now that the songs are recorded and The Complete Collection is out, I really feel like our work here is done.
Texas Is The Reason will be releasing comprehensive discography titled Do You Know Who You Are?: The Complete Collection which features two new songs on February 12th via Revelation Records. Stream new track "When Rock 'n' Roll Was Just A Baby" over at Rolling Stone now.
Texas Is The Reason will be reuniting for the Revelation Records 25-year anniversary show on October 11 in New York City at Irving Plaza. They will play on the first night of the anniversary event, and Underdog, Shades Apart, Gameface, and On the Might of Princes will also be performing. A teaser video is in the replies.
With just a single full-length, an EP, and a couple of singles in their catalog, Texas Is the Reason were living proof that longevity isn't required for a band to make an enduring impression. Letting go of the tough-guy posturing of their previous hardcore bands and turning toward decidedly more melodic and emotional waters, the band formed in 1994 and lasted just three short years, leaving behind precious little to remember them by, perhaps making each selection seem all the more special because of it.
