Update: Not a "new band" just writing together for tour.

Ian Cohen of Pitchfork has interviewed Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It. and Greg and Derek from The World Is... about why they can't tour with Parquet Courts and things like being on the Carson Daly show.
These kind of concerns are part of what Weiss alluded to in that tweet—that the term “emo” is bad for business. Or at least that it can limit the prospective audience. This is nothing new: As Shanholtzer says, “One of the most overlooked things is this was originally tagged as ‘post-emo indie rock.’ When the Get Up Kids and Promise Ring got popular, people were talking about emo in indie media circuits, so [those bands] were saying ‘We should call ourselves indie rock, because I don’t...

Noisey has interviewed Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It. Spoiler alert: they talk about what it means to be emo in 2014 and meeting John C. Reilly.
Talking to [Pitchfork’s] Ian Cohen, his opinion is just like, “Well you know, the records are better.” And I would say that that’s true, I think a lot of the bands involved are writing really great records now and figuring out who they want to be in the end, how they want the shit to sound. We’re all in uncharted territory.

If you haven't been keeping up with Dan Ozzi's columns on VICE's Noisey, you should perhaps start doing that. Today's writeup is about the "emo revival" and how it doesn't exist – people just started paying attention again.
