Trent Reznor recently talked with The Wall Street Journal about the Gone Girl score:
"I was listening to that calming, placating music and thought, we need to tap into this. The movie is about the facade of the good neighbor, the good Christian, the good wife. So the notion was to start with music that's attempting to give you a hug." The result is a score composed of lilting, haunting synths interspersed with doleful piano melodies and accentuated by the orchestral arrangements.

Grammy executive producer, Ken Ehrlich, has apologized to Trent Reznor for cutting their set short.
I’m sorry he was upset. I was really thrilled that we were finally getting him on the Grammys. The final jam started with Arcade Fire a few years ago, and LL Cool J last year. I want to end on a high, an up note. I did tell them we’d take it as long as we could. The number was about five, six minutes long, and we got to within a minute twenty of the end. We got as close as we could possibly get.
Jason Tate on 01/29/14 - 11:45 AM
Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) was not pleased with the Grammys and CBS after the telecast cut short his show-closing performance with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), and Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac).

In other related news, Trent Reznor told Spin that he "made it [the new album] as well as I could, and it costs 10 bucks, or go fuck yourself.”
I know that what we’re doing flies in the face of the Kickstarter Amanda-Palmer-Start-a-Revolution thing, which is fine for her, but I’m not super-comfortable with the idea of Ziggy Stardust shaking his cup for scraps. I’m not saying offering things for free or pay-what-you-can is wrong. I’m saying my personal feeling is...

Trent Reznor has announced the return of Nine Inch Nails. The band will be touring the world, beginning this summer and continuing through 2014.
Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.

I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked - which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.

The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, ...

Trent Reznor had a lot to say about the past, and current, state of the music industry in a recent interview. His quotes are always interesting to me, so if you've got some time, I definitely recommend it.
From the Interview“Well [pauses], that time would’ve been about two thousand…eight-ish, somewhere in that neighborhood, and, the true reality of that situation was: the record deal that we had signed years and years before had escalating advances based on the current state of the industry when that was negotiated. Meanwhile, the industry has collapsed, and those advances didn’t make any sense for the record label at that point.

They were astronomical compared to what an...

Trent Reznor has said he is thinking of writing for Nine Inch Nails again.
From the Interview"I'm going to be writing for Nine Inch Nails this year... [I don't] have any particular goal in mind other than... my voice as a songwriter feels like it needs to speak up or at least work out a little bit to not atrophy. I think I have something to say that feels unique to who I am right now, and that's when it tells me it's time to do something... I enjoy the challenge of moving that kind of brand forward, that identity, shaping it to who I am now instead of who I was a few years ago when I last left off... It's all kind of hypothetical right now. When I sit down with a notebook and a little...
