Since The Matches have (kinda) returned and graced us with new music, it only seems right that we get a music video too, right? While the band released a video a few weeks ago, we've got the group's directors cut version of their video for "Life of a Match." They've dropped the lyrics from the video and added a little tweak for good measure. So jump to the replies to check it out and take a stroll down the scene's memory lane.

A fan has started a Kickstarter to make a documentary about The Matches -- they're still about 30K short of their goal though.
Right now we have the production costs budgeted at $35,000. Maybe you are all, “Wow, that is a lot of money. I could buy a practical, compact car with that kind of moola.” You are correct. But a well-done documentary is way more than just a mere motor vehicle, friends. This doc might not aid in your physical travel, but mentally, emotionally, and maybe even spiritually, you’re in for a ride.

Shawn Harris recently answered some questions about his new project Maniac.
QuoteWe push one another over limits, and that is what our collaboration has been all about. When Jake is in left brain mode, my right switches on, and vice-versa.

edit: I changed the quote because it was being misinterpreted.

Jonathan Devoto recently answered some questions about his new project Bird by Bird.
QuoteThe Matches were a band that really strove to be different. That's who we were, and it worked great for us. Honestly, I'm a big fan of catchy, smart, rock songs. That's what I'm trying to create right now, and I'm having a great time doing it.

Update: Apparently Shawn was kind of kidding when he told a user this. They'll be recording, demoing, but don't plan to have an album out this year. Who woulda known?

Last night in DC, Shawn Harris said that after the AP Tour, The Matches plan to go back into the studio to record a follow-up to A Band In Hope with hopes to have it out by the end of the year. The new songs were described as "weird" as the third album but as catchy as the first.

The Matches wrote in to let us know how the debut live performance of three new songs (sort of) went last night. If you want to be one of the first to hear these songs, go see them on their current tour with Sherwood.
Band Reports Inlast night (Jan 31 Thu), as the Sherwood tour started in Sacramento (at the Boardwalk) with the Matches as main support (also on the tour: the Higher, We Shot the Moon opening), the Matches debuted three songs from the upcoming A Band in Hope.

Played live for the first time:
Wake the Sun, Between Halloweens, AM Tilts (which is also known as The Morning Tilts).

(Oh, well, actually ... AM Tilts was probably played live a few times in 2006 when it was first...
